I’m so excited to be sharing my first free blog pattern with you all! I love this pattern because of the many different possibilities you can come up with between buttons and color combinations.
Even if you don’t have a puppy, you could make a baby bandanna bib for your favorite toddler!

What you will need:
• Less than 2 oz of your favorite acrylic yarn. I used Red Hart Super Saver in Topaz for this pattern. You can also substitute acrylic for another yarn type. I have also used Bernat Baby Velvet yarn! You will need to adjust the number of rows when changing the weight of yarn.
• I/9 (5.5mm) Crochet Hook
• Yarn Needle
• Scissors. Below is a link to my current favorite pair on Amazon.
• Button sized 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inches. I purchased these buttons from Hobby Lobby. I love finding buttons at Joann Fabrics, Michaels, AC Moore’s and online! There are so many cute ones out there!
Important notes for this pattern:
• This pattern is flexible and can be adjusted to fit your puppy!
Use a larger weight of yarn or add more rows!
• This pattern is similar to a granny square and uses clusters of 3 double crochets.
• Crochet the “ch 3” at the beginning of each round loosely. This ch is equal to a dc.
• You may notice your bandanna start to curve, this is normal!
Loosen your tension if it causes any issues.
Finished Size:
• This will vary depending on how large you puppy is! My sweet Leo is 50 pounds and has a lot of fur around his neck. This pattern is designed for his neck size which is 16-17 inches around.
• This pattern is easy to adapt to customize for your smaller or larger dog or even to use as a bandanna on a small toddler!
My finished bandanna is 9 inches in length from the point to the top and 18 inches from end to end.
Gauge:
3 rows =4 inches across, 2.75 inches from starting ch to “point.”
Crochet Terms (US):
ch: Chain
st: Stitch
Sl St: Slip Stitch
dc: Double Crochet
*Always supervise pets and children when small pieces are involved. Buttons can become loose over time and are not intended to be chewed on.*
